Guru Hargobind Thermal plant , Lehra Mohabat of Powercom has won the meritorious performance awards for the two consecutive years 2011-12 and 2012-13 for its excellent performance by the Central Electricity Authority under the “performance of thermal power stations” category.
It is the matter of great pride that Guru Hargobind Thermal plant has been selected out of the tough competition for this award for the year 2013-14beacause of its best performance. This award was given to KD Chaudhari , Chairman and managing director of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) by honorable Piyush Goyal ,Union minister for power , coal and renewable energy at Vigyan Bhawan ,New Delhi.
GHTP Lehra Mohabbat generated an ever highest 76212 Lac units against the target of 68370 Lac units set by Central Electricity Authority. This power plant generated 66,650 lakh units during the year 2013-14 and its heat rate remained very low at 2396 Kcal/KWh against the regulatory commission’s target of 2500 Kcal/KWh. Its auxiliary power consumption remained 8.21% which was less than the target of 8.50%.the oil consumption was 0.32 milliliter/KWh, far less than the target 1.0 milliliter/KWh. The consumption of demineralized water for all the 4 units of the plant remained very low.This saved crores of rupees to the PSPCL as its auxiliary consumption, oil consumption and other parameters involving fuel and water remained at its lowest ever.
The thermal plant at Lehra Mohabbat has taken the lead in cutting down the Capital Overhauling Period from traditional 45 days to 30 days and the Annual Overhauling Period from 20 days to 14 days. Unit no.1 &4 of the plant ran continuously for 103.51 and 123.47 days respectively. The maintenance of the unit 4was completed in 14.69 days against the target of 20 days which contributed an extra power generation of 318 lac units to the corporation. The plant achieved the highest load factor of 97.30% which was the highest amongst all state sector power plants of the country.
Lehra Mohabbat has also won a number of awards and certificates at National level during previous years too. During the year 2010, GHTP was awarded the First National Energy Conservation Award 2010 (First prize at National level) by honorable Power Minister of India on 14th December 2010.
The plant has also received the Meritorious Productivity Award for the years 2011-12 and 2012-13 and it is the result of team effort and motivation to go beyond the target of the officer and the staff of the thermal plant. An excellent performance and huge savings have been made in terms of earning incentives by performing better than PSERC targets through meticulous planning.
