The single largest rooftop solar power plant in the world is being set up at Amritsar in Punjab to generate 7.2 MW of power, Punjab Energy Development Agency Director Balour Singh said in Raipur on Saturday.
Speaking at the 3rd National meet cum workshop of Association of Renewable Energy Agencies States (AERAS) here, he said this roof top power plant is spread over in an area of 30 acres.
The workshop attended by more than 25 delegates from 17 states was formally inaugurated by Chhattisgarh Renewable Energy Development Agency (CREDA) CEO S K Shukla.
During the sessions, presentations were made on the different activities currently run by CREDA and its achievements. KREDL, Karnatakam Managing director G V Balram highlighted the scheme for Solar power generation by engaging unemployed youth and farmers having un-utilized land.
Andhra Pradesh NREDAP M. Kamlakar Babu raised issues such as power purchase agreements and establishment of Solar Park while participants from North Eastern states raised issues of financial support required for strengthening the State Renewable Agencies deserved from Ministry of Non-renewable energy resources.
Tamilnadu TEDA director N Jayaraman also highlighted the rooftop solar power projects installed in urban areas in their State. A short presentation of the biofuel activities done in Chhattisgarh has been shown to the members.
